I agree. Skepticism is rampant, after Kebechet's warning. I am interested in what will be done to help members trust again.

Some recruits have no memory of joining and I have heard of no attempt to solve that problem. Since they have not gone remotely out of their way to win the loyalty of those recruits I doubt being trusted is a concern.

It would be stupid not to wonder why.

So then you consider us fodder? It seems very much to be the case where Commander Grothia is concerned.

This I don't mind, I am accustomed to being a tool where battles and wars are to be won, but this is not the way to inspire rebellion in people who had no stake to begin with.

It seems likely. Either trust is not a concern because those in command are foolish or they have no need for it.

A more nefarious possibility is that COST simply lies to us.

Understood. It's just another way to look at it.

They'll need our trust before the end. No team amounted to anything without morale, unless it was by sheer overwhelming force. Something we don't have.

Grothia and Chiron have answered every question I've asked. They've been forthcoming with me, at least, but again that presumes they're telling the truth.

I struggle to find hope on better days, but in this situation — for their sakes — I sincerely hope they're not lying.

I won't let them get away with it if they are. That's a promise.

Has anyone asked them why they have recruited people out of their own volition? Or why they don't remember being recruited?

BCE malfunction/Regency tampering attempt left a hole where my first six months in COST should be. Standard explanation, extremely convenient. Can't speak for anyone else. I'm told they're doing what they can to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Thing is, I probably would've said yes. All our missions so far have been preserving the history of my own world, and I haven't been asked to do anything that cross a line in my book. I know the kind of shit that happens when an organization like the Regency decides they know what's best for everyone.

But there's someone at home I don't think I would've left behind. Maybe she agreed to come with me and she's in a different cell. That's the one thing I haven't asked because I'm not sure I really want to know.

convenient is a way to put it

guess you need to suck it up to figure it out for real

None of us have the leverage right now for outright revolt—it’ll only get people killed. This isn't something that's gonna happen overnight.

They tell you something different? Why don't you share with the class?

I volunteered, so I remember everything.
