No. To be "good" is only a useful tool while I am in the company of humans. It is something they value highly, so it is advantageous to play to their morality.

It depends entirely on what you want or need from them. For example, if I need their trust, then I must operate within expectations of trustworthiness. Which, granted, if you are dealing with an untrustworthy sort to start, to be "good" may not be the method to foster that. But those cases are far more rare.
